The annual Society Christmas Dinner Dance was brought back to Congressional Country Club and was well attended and quite a treat for those in attendance. The end of the year culminated with the May Golf and Dinner Outing held at Woodmont Country Club where we had an entertaining evening with consummate “Voice of Hoya Basketball”, Rich Chvotkin.
On behalf of the Society, it was my distinct pleasure to be able to present the Doctor of the Year Award to one of the Society’s most loyal and active members, pediatrician Dr. Frank Palumbo. He has been supportive of both the medical school and the Society in his advocacy of Georgetown medical students.
The Society is growing and thanks to the tireless efforts of many members who have given their time and funds to serve, the Society is on a stable financial footing. With this added stability we were able to present scholarships to two impressive graduating Georgetown medical students, Chelsea Valdiconza and Patrick Yaffee this past year with the usual rock solid help from Dean Stephen Ray Mitchell, MD.
Special thanks to those members of the Society’s Executive Committee who made this past year so personally rewarding for me. This year’s President, Dr. Daphne Keshishian, was instrumental in our current growth phase and I have no doubt that she will continue to innovate and keep the Georgetown Clinical Society well positioned to provide fellowship and service to its honored members.
