The Georgetown Clinical Society is not only alive and well, but thriving!  This past year, fortune graced us with speakers from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the New America Foundation, Microsoft and our very own Dr. Donald Knowlan, who spoke about his time with the Washington Redskins.  We were blessed with several new members, thanks in part to the recruiting efforts of our current members and the fabulous New Member party at the home of gracious hosts, Dr. Andrea Giacometti and Ross Vincenti.  They extended their hospitality even further by hosting our annual Wine Tasting where we learned to trust our palette with syndicated wine columnists the Vine Guy and Vine Gal, Scott and Cindy Greenberg.

The annual Society Christmas Dinner Dance was brought back to Congressional Country Club and was well attended and quite a treat for those in attendance.  The end of the year culminated with the May Golf and Dinner Outing held at Woodmont Country Club where we had an entertaining evening with consummate “Voice of Hoya Basketball”, Rich Chvotkin.

On behalf of the Society, it was my distinct pleasure to be able to present the Doctor of the Year Award to one of the Society’s most loyal and active members, pediatrician Dr. Frank Palumbo.  He has been supportive of both the medical school and the Society in his advocacy of Georgetown medical students.

The Society is growing and thanks to the tireless efforts of many members who have given their time and funds to serve, the Society is on a stable financial footing.  With this added stability we were able to present scholarships to two impressive graduating Georgetown medical students, Chelsea Valdiconza and Patrick Yaffee this past year with the usual rock solid help from Dean Stephen Ray Mitchell, MD.

Special thanks to those members of the Society’s Executive Committee who made this past year so personally rewarding for me.  This year’s President, Dr. Daphne Keshishian, was instrumental in our current growth phase and I have no doubt that she will continue to innovate and keep the Georgetown Clinical Society well positioned to provide fellowship and service to its honored members.

Warm regards,

Steve Luck, MD

I want to warmly welcome you to the Georgetown Clinical Society, celebrating our 107th year.  It promises be a wonderful year, combining our rich history and ongoing traditions with some new features this year, as well. Our events include four dinner meetings with renowned speakers, our traditional Christmas party at Congressional Country Club, the Doctor of the Year Dinner and our May Golf Outing fundraiser, which raises funds for the scholarships awarded to two deserving medical students.  In June, we conclude with our popular wine tasting/pizza party.  New this year is the launch of our website, which will be an interactive tool to further connect us and share information about the Society and our events. We invite you to explore the site to preview our events schedule and speaker bios, read about our history, keep up with Society information via postings from leadership or other members.  Also new, we are delighted to be working with the Medical School to host eight medical students, joining us for dinner meetings.  The students will be seated at tables among our members, and I encourage you to look out for them and make them feel welcomed!

I look forward to forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Daphne Stamos Keshishian, M93

President 107th Georgetown Clinical Society
